Road Blockade in Dhanpur Over Anganwadi Helper Recruitment, Commuters Face Hardship

Dhanpur: Resentment among villagers over the appointment of an Anganwadi helper led to a road blockade on the Sonamura-Kathalia road in the Dhanpur area. Local residents staged the protest alleging that an outsider had been appointed to the post. The blockade continued for more than five hours, while police and administrative officials who reached the spot failed to restore normal traffic.

The protest centres on the recruitment of a helper at the Taziamura Anganwadi Centre in Sonamura subdivision. According to local residents, a person from outside the village was appointed to the post, allegedly overlooking the claims of eligible candidates from the area. Opposing the decision, villagers took to the streets and blocked the road.

The protesters demanded that local residents be given priority in the recruitment process and that someone from the concerned village be appointed to the position. They alleged that the interests of the local community had been ignored while finalising the appointment.

The blockade disrupted traffic along the Sonamura-Kathalia road, leaving commuters stranded and causing considerable inconvenience to the public. Police and administrative officials reached the spot following the incident and held discussions with the protesters. However, the blockade remained in place even after their intervention, with tensions continuing over the recruitment issue.
